Technology & Society underpin Commonwealth Day

This year's Commonwealth Day celebrations will focus on the impact of technology and science in the modern world.
This year's Commonwealth Day celebrations will be underpinned by a look at IT, technology and science and their impact on modern society.
The event will also look at how technology jobs underpin many other important sectors, including communications, trade, arts and culture and human rights.
IT and technology movements in health will also be looked at in depth, with the value of technology advanced healthcare helping many of the Commonwealth's two billion inhabitants.
A representative of the event, which is due to take place on March 8th, said: "Science and technology are crucial elements in moving forward governance and economic and human development.
"Around the Commonwealth there are many examples of scientists playing a crucial role in society, whether working on malaria prevention, combating climate change or developing renewable sources of energy."
There are currently 54 countries in the British Commonwealth, including Malaysia, Ghana, India, Pakistan and New Zealand.
