CASTME
Commonwealth Association of Science, Technology and Mathematics Educators
About Us
CASTME is a professional organisation that links Science, Technology and Mathematics (STM) Educators across the Commonwealth. Its headquarters is in London, with Regional Branches in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Europe.
Aims
- To enhance the teaching and learning of STM throughout the Commonwealth
- To relate STM education to its social and environmental contexts
- To encourage the teaching of STM in an increasingly integrated way
Activities
- Organising international seminars and regional conferences
- Organising workshops to produce teaching/learning materials
- Running an annual Award Scheme for teachers and teacher-educators who have innovative work to report
Membership
CASTME is a membership organisation. Membership is of two kinds:
- Institutional
- Individual
Institutional membership is designed for organisations such as a Ministry of Education, a library or a specialist teachers' association. Currently the annual subscription is £40.00 or equivalent, and all institutional members receive the CASTME Journal without further charge.
Individual membership is open to anyone concerned with STM education. All members receive personal copies of the CASTME Journal. Subscription arrangements depend on whether they are resident in a region where there is a Regional Branch of CASTME.
Where a Regional Branch exists, the Branch decides the annual subscription for individual membership of CASTME, and subscriptions are paid to the Treasurer of the Branch. Enquiries should be made to the Secretary of the Regional Branch, to whom the completed application form should be returned.
Where there is no Regional Branch, the subscription is decided by the CASTME Council. It is currently £11 or equivalent, and may be paid through the Honorary Secretary of CASTME.
The membership application form is currently being updated and will be available to download from here shortly.
